Elmhirst's Resort

Definitely a five star experience in my book! The property has everything I wanted including a spa, restaurant, beautiful hiking trails and most importantly to me a serene location close to nature. My visit was at the end of October so there was no human activity on the water, and the peace was absolutely wonderful! I enjoyed many peaceful hours enjoying the lake views, and hiking the gorgeous trails which are a great combination of clearly marked and groomed, and some a little off the beaten path. Keep your eye for side trails which lead to beautiful spots to view the lake. The cottage itself is down a short tree lined driveway and offers fantastic privacy, without being remote. It is perfectly appointed, very comfortable bed, living room furniture setup so that you can enjoy a view of the lake, and indoor gas fireplace, or the TV (if you so choose). Kitchen had everything I needed to cook for the weekend, including a dishwasher which was a nice surprise. I very much appreciated that the stereo system could pair with my smartphone so I could play my own music. Large deck was also appreciated, more than enough room to do yoga! If visiting in off season, and want to sit in deck, bringing a lawn chair is recommended as they are put away at that time. We went there for our honeymoon. Even though we went on the off season we were not disappointed. We had a cottage with a whirlpool for two and a wood burning fireplace. It couldn't have been more perfect. We had dinner every night at the restaurant and the food and service were excellent. Because we went in the off season, we had the swimming facilities to ourselves. There is an indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna. It was all very romantic! Can't wait to go back for our anniversary!

Rooms clean but showing signs of being in need of update,staff great ,dinner in dining room was excellent. Went for breakfast day of leaving, disappointed $17 for 2 eggs 1 toast,and 2 pieces of bacon with deep fried potatoes. It is easy and cost effective to cook potatoes and 2 toast with 3 bacon is normal especially at this price. Staff was great though.
